2.4mR sailors at the 2016 Sailing World Cup Final in Melbourne, Australia will benefit from a reduced entry fee of $350 AUD. The reduced fee applies to both classified and non-classified sailors with the World Cup Final fleet opening up to all.
In the aftermath of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Sailing Competition sailors will have an opportunity to measure themselves in a fleet that will welcome the best Paralympic sailors back to the waters of the 2015 Para World Sailing Championships.
Provided a minimum of six classified sailors register, these sailors will be eligible for a portion of the $200,000 AUD in prize money on offer.
Liberty sailors will also have an opportunity to race at this year’s Sailing World Cup Final with their inclusion in the Invited Class regatta. For the Notice of Race amendment click here.
To make it even more worthwhile for sailors to travel to Melbourne, the Sailing World Cup Final are supporting additional regattas surrounding the Final showdown. Royal Brighton Yacht Club’s ‘George Mac Regatta’ has a 9 race short course series for the 2.4mR and Liberty classes - the perfect prelude to the final event at the St Kilda Sailing Precinct.
The 2016 Sailing World Cup Final, from 4 - 11 December 2016 at the St Kilda Sailing Precinct brings the 2015-16 world series season full circle. Melbourne hosted the opening event last December before a stop in Miami, USA at the end of January. Two stops in Europe in Hyères, France and Weymouth & Portland, Great Britain lead into Sailing World Cup Qingdao in September and then December's showcase.
